Blentech, a leader in food processing systems, is seeking an energetic and results-focused BIC Applications Engineer to be the driving force at our Blentech Innovation Center (BIC)! This pivotal role combines high-level engineering and technical consulting with the hands-on operation and maintenance of our state-of-the-art facility. 

Essential Functions

You will own the technical validation process, moving opportunities forward, and bringing customer concepts to life.

Technical & Customer Solution Development

  • Be the Technical Expert: Interact with customers (via calls, emails, and in-person meetings) to establish credibility and advance Blentech's position as a solution provider. 
  • Design the Vision: Determine technical solutions, develop concepts, and create detailed proposals and estimated project budgets for the Sales team. 
  • Document and Define: Create critical customer-facing technical documentation, including process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and equipment utility requirements. 
  • Innovate: Deliver highly customized, sometimes alternative, solutions and proactively seek process improvements for customers' existing processes. 

Testing, Trials, and BIC Operations 

  • Lead the Trial: Take charge of hands-on product trials, providing the critical proof of concept for equipment selection. 
  • Prep and Execute: Assist in trial planning, preparation, operation, data collection, and documentation of tests. 
  • Configure Machinery: Expertly configure large and small Blentech equipment and parts for successful testing and trials. 
  • Maintain Excellence: Ensure a safe, clean, and high-quality customer experience by coordinating equipment maintenance and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the BIC facility, including equipment, floors, and surrounding areas. 

What You'll Bring: Qualifications & Competencies

  • Education: A B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical, Chemical, Food Engineering, or a related STEM field, or equivalent work experience. 
  • Expertise: Mechanical experience and expertise is required, along with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 
  • Communication: Excellent customer service, effective verbal, and written communication skills are a must. 
  • Technical Acumen: Advanced skill level in Microsoft Office Suite and G-Suite. You must be able to read and interpret complex technical documents, including research papers and procedure manuals. 
  • Flexibility: High versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. 
  • Safety Focus: Adherence to all safety, food safety, and cleanliness policies is paramount. 

The Environment

  • Teamwork: You will be a key collaborator, working with Sales, Service, and Engineering teams to close business. 
  • Setting: This is a truly hands-on role where you will work in a testing kitchen, workshop, and factory environment, including time at a desk and on the manufacturing floor. The area may be damp, wet, or hot due to cooking. 
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to occasionally lift and carry items up to 40 pounds in non-repetitive movement. 
  • Travel: Travel is necessary to support customer initiatives. Occasional weekend and/or evening work may be required. 

Full Time: 40+ hours per week 

We offer 100% company-paid Medical, Dental, and Vision for the employee, a 401(k) with match, Paid Time Off, and a $150.00 boot allowance per year. The starting PTO accrual is 5.66 hours of PTO earned every pay period.

The ability to lift up to 40 pounds is a must 

Pay Range DOE: $96,400 – $107,900

This is an onsite position. You must be within driving distance of the office.
