In fact, Blentech has been a leader in designing and building stainless steel custom food processing systems in Santa Rosa, California, for more than 35 years. We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, energetic Project and System Engineer II based in Northern California. 

Responsibilities & Duties
Project Engineering & System Design:
The Project and Systems Engineer II works closely with Project Management, Applications Engineering, and other engineering/manufacturing departments to maintain schedules, resolve design challenges, and drive process improvements—while maintaining constant customer communication. Designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment while also ensuring their seamless integration with automation systems like PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems). Provide engineering support for projects ranging from $80K to $8M, with minimal oversight. Perform process design calculations, including mass and energy balances, scale-up calculations from pilot trials, and determination of utility requirements. Apply logical problem-solving skills to identify optimal process solutions tailored to customer needs.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Providing technical support to production teams to diagnose and resolve issues that can stem from either a physical process problem or a system/software malfunction. They conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurring failures.
  • Continuous Improvement: Applying methodologies like Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality. They also analyze data from manufacturing systems to identify areas for improvement and implement new solutions.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Prepare technical deliverables such as Engineering Specifications, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Functional Descriptions, Component Lists, Technical Reports, and Automation Architectures. Ensure all designs meet regulatory, customer, and company standards.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: They work closely with groups to develop new products and processes, ensuring all systems are aligned with the company's overall manufacturing strategy.

Required Qualifications & Skills
This role requires a unique combination of engineering and technical skills.
  • Education & Experience: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical, or related field). Candidates should have 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a demonstrable background in both process engineering and manufacturing.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with process simulation software, CAD software, and data analysis tools is a must. Knowledge of automation systems (PLC, HMI, MCC, SCADA, MES).Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace. Experience with Salesforce preferred.
  • Soft Skills: The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences is critical. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills are also necessary. They must be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. Adaptable, with enthusiasm for working in a fast-changing project environment. Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Up to 30% travel domestically and internationally.


The successful candidate for this position must be based in, or willing to relocate to, Northern California, with a strong preference for locations in Sonoma County.

Full Time Salaried: 40+ hours per week.

Salary DOE: $90,300 to $110,400 depending on experience level
